About CEDRE
The Centre for Enterprise Development and Regional Economy (CEDRE) has an excellent internationally reputation for its expertise and knowledge in nurturing the development of entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial regions and regional innovation systems.
The Centre, founded in 2004, is part of the Department of Management & Organisation within the School of Business in South East Technological University (SETU), Ireland.
In 2004…
… the Centre was known as the Centre for Entrepreneurship as its main focus was solely on entrepreneurship research and education at under graduate, post graduate and executive levels. Its flagship education programmes at the time were the South East Enterprise Platform Programme (SEEPP) and the Post Graduate Diploma in Business in Enterprise Development. These programmes were designed for entrepreneurs to progress their business ideas into commercial realities.
Over the years …
… researchers at the Centre embraced more in depth analysis and investigation into the design, development and implementation of local, regional and national enterprise and innovation policies. In 2008 the name of the Centre was changed to the Centre for Enterprise Development and Regional Economy (CEDRE) to cover the broad breadth of experience and research activities of the researchers working in and associated with the Centre.
Since 2004 the Centre has generated over €8.0m worth of research funding through sources such as INTERREG, ERASMUS, Knowledge Alliance, Lifelong Learning, FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020 and Enterprise Ireland.
The core activities of the Centre include research domains such as entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial regions, regional innovation systems, innovation policy, enterprise policy, regional stakeholder engagement and collaborative coalitions; and the design, development and delivery of entrepreneurship education programmes for entrepreneurs and SME owner/mangers, as well as innovation programmes to enhance the innovation capabilities and capacities of SMEs.
Researchers in, and/or associated with, the Centre have provided inputs to innovation policy, enterprise policy and entrepreneurship education policy at regional and national levels in Ireland and other European countries.
